I’m writing as a resident of [suburb/electorate] to ask you to support stronger action for South Australia’s greyhounds.

The final Greyhound Industry Reform Inspector report has recommended that greyhound racing continue. However, significant animal welfare concerns remain unresolved after two years of reform.

I’m asking you to support a responsibly managed phase-out of greyhound racing in South Australia.

Five of the 78 reform recommendations remain incomplete, including issues relating to breeding, welfare complaints, enforcement of housing and welfare standards, and the care and rehoming of retired greyhounds.

These are not minor administrative issues. They directly affect how greyhounds are bred, protected, housed and cared for throughout and after their racing lives.

Greyhounds also continue to be injured through racing. Between January and August 2026, RSPCA South Australia reports that 607 injuries were recorded in South Australia, including 164 major injuries and eight deaths.

Reform should be judged by the outcomes it delivers for greyhounds, not simply by the number of recommendations marked as complete.

That is why I believe South Australia should be leading the way and planning for a responsibly managed phase-out of greyhound racing.

As my local representative, I’m asking you to make your position clear and advocate directly for stronger protections and a managed phase-out.
